There are a lot of times that an officer does not want to publicize their communication over the radio because too many people have scanners. For example, if they are about to serve a warrant on a house they do not want this going across the radio. Officers will use their cell phones to either call or text other officers to make sure everything is ready. What other resources should they use to communicate with the public?
My preferred methods of communication start with either phone conversations or face to face conversations with email as a back up. However, I will always email a person after I’ve spoken to them just to recap what we spoke about so I have documentation. How do you know your communication with someone has been received well?
